Description

Summary: Completes a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodative services for patient and staff; provides assistance to the physician and appropriate medical staff by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Places patients in rooms, assists with vitals, obtains patient history, records all medications, documents allergies, and charts any significant changes with the patient.*

  1. Performs and draws blood tests ordered by the physician.*

  1. Performs clinical duties to include setting up surgery rooms, and cleaning and maintaining all exam and operating rooms.*

  1. Assists physician with procedures, embryo transfers, cyst aspirations, and oocyte retrievals with direct supervision of registered nurse.*

  1. Assists with patient medication instructions, helping patient get the proper medications ordered from the pharmacy.*

  1. Participates in all training, continuing education, and classes relevant to the medical assistant.*

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
